While declaring a historic decision on Thursday, the Supreme Court has declared the right of privacy to be a fundamental right under the Constitution of India. A nine-member Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar said in the judgment that the right to privacy is protected under the rights granted under Article 21 of the Constitution. After the Supreme Court’s decision, there is a flood of reactions on Twitter. The opposition has told this decision against the government. Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram termed it as a freedom and said, the memories of the independence of 1947 have become fresh.
