The pavilion of the new cricket stadium of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) has been named after the Indian women’s cricket team’s wicketkeeper and batsman Sushma Verma. It is notable that Sushma is a resident of Shimla. HPCA said that it is a matter of honor to name a pavilion at Gumma Stadium under the name of Sushma. The stadium was inaugurated by Anurag Thakur, former president of HPCA. He is also the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Born in Shimla, Sushma is the first female cricket player of the state who has represented India at international level.
HPCA press secretary Mohit Sood said, “It is an inspiring thing for girls of Himachal Women’s Cricket Academy and all those players. This will encourage them to work hard and do the best to achieve big achievements. ”
