The voting process has been completed for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections. In many areas, the voting percentage crossed 40 percent in elections, so there was a lack of enthusiasm among voters. Out of the 270 wards in Delhi, 183 wards have been registered at 31.13 percent till 2 pm. Earlier, 24 per cent voting took place till 1 pm. According to election officials, only 7 percent voting was done till 11 o’clock. Before this, less than 2 percent of the votes were cast by 10 o’clock in the morning.
Polling began at 8 am for 270 seats in the three municipal corporation between strong security on Sunday. It was expected that due to good weather, the voting percentage will increase. There were speculations that people would come out of the house to vote. But that did not happen.
The low percentage of voting is considered a matter of concern for the BJP, but the low voter turnout in the corporation elections has put the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress in trouble.
It is worth mentioning that at this time, 2537 candidates are trying their luck in the MCD election, the highest of which is 1004 candidates in Northern MCD. After this, 985 in Southern MCD and 548 candidates in Eastern MCD.
